Mixed Media Bird Canvas using Bird Album

21 Aug

Hello there! I am so excited to share my canvas with you today that I made using the Bird Album (G014).  I had a great time creating this one. It involved using a lot of mixed media items from the GJS Store to decorate the birds.

I decorated each bird individually using various techniques and products, many of which you can pick up in the store. I decorated the canvas using tissue paper, modeling paste, paint and stamps. Since the birds are so busy, I wanted the background to have less going on.

The top left bird was painted using Art Anthology Velvet paint and stamped and embossed over using Creative Inspirations embossing powder.  I used a Crafters Workshop stencil with Liquitex Modeling Paste which I colored with Creative Inspirations Paint and some Liquitex Acrylic Ink.  The lower left bird was first painted with some acrylic paint, and then I used Liquitex Pouring Fluid Acrylic Medium mixed with some more Liquitex Acrylic Ink over the top.

I poured a couple of layers, letting the first dry before adding the second layer. It gives a really neat look. I added some Inka Gold over the top layer of Fluid Acrylic Medium for more definition. And finally, for the last page of the album, and the lower right bird, I covered the page using modeling paste and lots of little gears, for a steampunk look. After the paste dried, I covered everything in a metallic paint.

To finish off the canvas, I added lots of stamping, and a title. The canvas took some time, but it was so much fun to make! Just remember that you can use the GJS Albums for so many different things! The sky is the limit!

Have a wonderful day!
